Calendar - Club Social Events

The Club offers a variety of social activities for members who enjoy hitting the open road in their Alfas - or simply enjoy the company of other Alfisti. Activities range from restaurant evenings to extended week-ends away in the country. Occasionally, a social outing will coincide with the opportunity for members to display their pride and joy at a classic car show or other display. The Club's insurance coverage for events is provided by Motorsport Australia. Members' family, potential Club members and non-members may attend Club events, however it is the Club's policy that they sign an Event Disclaimer and Indemnity acknowledging that they participate at their own risk and indemnifying the Club, Committee and Members against all or any claims, suits, actions, demands and costs from injury or damage.

1889 Enoteca Restaurant, The Moreton Rubber Building, 10 – 12 Logan Rd, Woolloongabba, Qld 4102
1889 Enoteca Restaurant Night - I've booked us the table in the cellar at one of the best Italian Restaurants in the world: 1889 Enoteca. And it's right here in Brisbane! Being such a good restaurant, it is a bit more expensive than we are used to, but very reasonable considering the quality of both the food and the surroundings. Check out their website (https://1889enoteca.com.au/info) to see what I mean. However, this comes at some risk to the club. To get the cellar (the best place in the restaurant), we need a minimum spend of $1500 total, including drinks. If 24 people get the two course alternate drop, we'll easily meet that, and the cost will be $65 a head, plus drinks. The courses will be Entree and Main. The committee will select what the two dishes for each are, but you can look at the options on page 5 of this document (https://cms.1889enoteca.com.au/app/uploads/2021/02/Function-Package-Summer2021.pdf). Let us know if you have any strong preferences. There's also a three course option for $89 a head plus drinks, on page 4 of the same document. I'll assume we want the cheaper package unless a lot of people ask me for the latter one. The other part of the risk to the club is that if we cancel within a month due to poor attendance, we have to pay them $750. So I need to ask your commitment to come to this dinner before April 20th. If we don't have 24 by that date, I will cancel or postpone, or just book it as an a la carte meal in the main part of the restaurant. As the cheaper menu is "up" to 24 guests, we will limit it to the first 24 to RSVP to social@arocaqld.com. This is a great chance to frock up and enjoy the finer side of Italian life. And after last year, we need it!
Sun - May 23 - 2021
Belmont Rifle Range, Old Cleveland Road, Belmont
2021 Macleans Bridge Car Show - Hosted by the Triumph Sports Owners Association, this is possibly Queensland's biggest classic car event, typically involving around 400 cars from many different marques. Entry is $15.00 per display car which included driver and all passengers. Gates open for display cars at 7.30am, 9.00am for visitors, awards ceremony will be at midday. On site caterers have been organised and there will be three coffee vans from early morning for those of you desperate on your caffeine fix as soon as your arrive. Food vans will also be serving breakfast rolls from gate opening time in case you did not have time for breakfast prior to departure. To avoid the queues at the gates, we urge visitors to pre-register and pay for entry during the weeks prior to the event. Those who pre-register will be sent a form to display on their dash as they drive in to the range and then proceed through the preregistered lane thus avoiding those waiting to pay at the gate. Pre-registration also gives the organisers an idea of how many cars are attending from specific clubs and ensure that there is sufficient parking allocated so the club members can park together. Pre-registration forms can be downloaded from the MacLean’s Bridge website. This year the classes for judging the cars has changed and also note that only cars displaying a “field judging card” on their dash will be judged for an award. Cards will be handed out in the pack at the gate or can be downloaded from the website. Once again proceeds from this event are going to assist Orange Sky with washing and showering facilities for the homeless. [ Macleans Bridge Website]
