Alfesta Trophies and Awards

A special momento of Alfesta for someone...Is it possible to gather a group of Alfa Romeo owners together and not generate a fierce but friendly atmosphere of competition? Probably not.

While the first and foremost objective of Alfesta is fun, you may walk away with something more tangible to add to your happy memories. The following awards are traditionally presented at the Gala Dinner on Sunday night.

Harry and Joan Lewis Spirit of Alfesta

The inaugural Spirit of Alfesta award was presented at the 1991 Alfesta. The award was initiated by Peter and Lyn Heriot of Insurance Design Australia Pty Ltd, the brokers at the time for the Club’s insurance scheme. Following Harry Lewis’ untimely death in 1993, the award was named in his honour, in recognition of his contributions over many years to the Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Australian, and to Alfesta as an event.

It is awarded to the person, couple or family who displays the most involvement and "spirit" during an Alfesta and is not based on overall performance or sucess in any event.

The perpetual shield and individual keepsake is awarded after careful consultation between the members of National Council present at Alfesta.

Ray Sharp Memorial Trophy

This trophy was introduced in 1998 to honour the memory of the late Ray Sharp. Ray joined AROCA in 1981, serving in many committee positions and being awarded Life Membership in 1991. He loved life and the Club, particularly the camaraderie it provided, developing friendships across all the state divisions.

Ray was generous with his time, offering support to anyone seeking it, with a ready smile and good humour.

Ray was a strong supporter of the National Body, serving as National Vice President in 1991, and was a committed advocate of, and participant in, Alfesta, which together with this love of his Alfa Montreal, is reflected in the trophy.

The perpetiual trophy and individual keepsake is awarded to the winner of the Alfesta navigation/observation run.
