Post-Alfesta Tour 18 April

Join us for the post-Alfesta touring rally

Due to the flooding, landslides and subsequent road damage, the tour has been shortened and will head to Bellingen for dinner on Monday night for a farewell dinner.

The route is still do be finalised, but it will involve the costal roads towards Coffs Harbour, avoiding the M1 for most of the route. The lunch venue is still to be confirmed, but dinner will be at the Federal Hotel in Bellingen.

The original tour is detailed below for posterity.

If you have enjoyed Alfesta 2022, it doesn't have to end on Monday!

A post-Alfesta Tour has been organised for you to take the long way home.

Please note that this is not an official part of Alfesta and you will need to book and pay separately to the Tour

Overview

Join a select group of like-minded Alfisti for three days on a journey through the hinterland and over the Great Dividing Range. You don't have to do the whole tour, you can join for just part of it if you prefer.

Monday - Day 1

Morning - Port Macquarie to Petersons Guesthouse & Winery at Armidale for lunch via the Oxley Highway, a favourite of motorcyclists.

>>Driving time (according to Google) 3hr 17min; distance 250km

Afternoon - Armidale to Bellingen via Waterfall Way, one of the top tourist roads in NSW, for dinner at the Federal Hotel and our overnight stop in Bellingen.

>>Driving time 2hr 11 min; distance 158km

Tuesday - Day 2

Back up the Waterfall Way to Dorrigo and then Grafton before taking the Gwydir Highway west to Glen Innes and then north to Tenterfield for our second overnight stop.

>>Approximate driving time 5 hrs; distance 350km

Wednesday - Day 3

The Bruxner Highway welcomes us on day 3, with morning tea in Casino and lunch at the Two Tails Winery, before finishing in Coffs Harbour.

>>Approximate driving time 3 hrs 50 min; distance 310km

There is no requirement to do the full tour and you can choose to travel as a group or stop off at things of interest, making use of the provided route instructions. An example of a reduced touring route would be to take a day sight-seeing around Port Macquarie before joining us for dinner in Bellingen on the Monday night, and then doing the full day 2 drive before heading home from Tenterfield on the Wednesday morning.

Participants will book and pay for their accommodation at the selected accommodation as well as all meals on the day unless otherwise advised. Where possible the aim is to give you all maximum choice on where to stay and what to eat while enjoying north-east NSW.

There are only a few hotels listed in Bellingen, ranging from Diggers Tavern ($150 per night) to the Bellingen Valley Lodge ($280+), but there are other options such as sharing one of the Bella Vista’s houses with other tourists or and there are several Airbnb hosts in town. For the night of 19 April, Tenterfield has several standard (not Super or Veloce trim) motel offerings, and a couple of Gold Cloverleaf choices such as the Commercial Boutique Hotel.
